Moving tributes flood in after the death of national treasure Bernard Cribbins

At the age of 93, veteran actor and national treasure, Bernard Cribbins, has died, less than a year after his beloved wife, Gill.

Generations of film and TV viewers have a special place in their heart for the talented actor, carved out by roles in Doctor Who, several Carry On films, The Railway Children, as the narrator of The Wombles and by his many appearances on Jackanory – to name a few.

Heartbroken tributes flooded in to broadcast news and social media from both fans and colleagues.

The Doctor Who showrunner, Russell T. Davies, shared these words on the loss of his friend.

Bethany Black, comedian and actor – who also appeared in Doctor Who – had this excellent suggestion.
