A brilliant thread for anyone in two minds about the Bristol statue toppling

You’ll have seen by now how Black Lives Matters protesters toppled a statue of a slave trader in Bristol.

It had lots of people cheering, on the one hand, and on the other were people like Home Secretary Priti Patel who condemned it as ‘utterly disgraceful … thuggery’.

Somewhere in the middle were people who were delighted to see it go but wondered if it couldn’t have been taken down by, say, the council?
