Pingu’s ‘The Thing’ has gone viral again – and it’s a fitting salute to Carlo Bonomi

Actor Carlo Bonomi died last week, at the age of 85. He was best known as the original voice of Pingu – and the entire Penguin clan – creating the curiously meaningful nonsense that helped to make Pingu a worldwide hit.

Perhaps that’s why the claymation version of John Carpenter’s The Thing by Lee Hardcastle, has resurfaced. It’s an absolute classic based on another classic.

Pingu’s The Thing

It came back into prominence after a previous version of it was posted on Twitter by Catfather, where it’s been viewed more than a million times in less than three days.

It blew a few minds.

As several people have pointed out, it even has the ultimate thumbs up.

If you enjoyed Lee Hardcastle’s creation, you can follow him on YouTube or buy his unique merchandise.
