9 favourite things people said about this fabulous Trump ‘hurricane gun’ story

There’s a rather fabulous story in Rolling Stone which claims Donald Trump had a habit in his first year in office of suspecting China had secret technology that could generate hurricanes and fire them at the US.

Apparently he kept asking his national security advisers about it, so much so that it became known as the ‘Hurricane Gun’ thing among those in the know. You can read all about it here.

Trump, you might remember, also had a theory that you could nuke hurricanes.

Here’s what one former senior official told Rolling Stone.

“I was present [once] when he asked if China ‘made’ hurricanes to send to us. [Trump] wanted to know if the technology existed. One guy in the room responded, ‘Not to the best of my knowledge, sir.’

‘I kept it together until I got back to my office … I do not know where the [then-]president would have heard about that … He was asking about it around the time, maybe a little before, he asked people about nuking hurricanes.’

And it prompted a whirlwind of comment on Twitter, as you might imagine. Here are our favourites.
