This Labour MP’s speech on Boris Johnson and undermining democracy was magnificently done

MPs will vote today on whether there should be an inquiry into whether Boris Johnson misled Parliament.

Johnson won’t be there, of course, he’s gone to India in the hope of securing a trade deal by the end of the year.

Whether he’s still PM at that time is another matter, with the odds on him going surely shortening after former Brexit minister Steve Baker just said it was time for Johnson to go.

But we’re not here for Baker, we’re here for this speech by Labour MP Chris Bryant, an impassioned plea for MPs to preserve the reputation of the House of Commons and to uphold democracy.

You don’t have to be the member of any particular party to be moved by this, two minutes very well spent.
