Pressure was building on Boris Johnson today after an email emerged inviting 100 of his staff to a ‘socially distanced drinks’ in the No 10 garden in May 2020 when strict lockdown rules were in place.

The leaked email from the PM’s principal private secretary, Martin Reynolds, encouraged people to ‘bring your own booze’ and ‘make the most of the lovely weather’.

The so-called PM has declined to say whether he was there, and failed to show up to answer questions in the House of Commons today, sending minister Michael Ellis – us neither – in his place.

Not a lot of Tory MPs bothered to turn up either.
