Rosie Holt turned Dominic Raab’s cringeworthy defence of the PM into biting satire

You can’t have failed to notice this viral photo of something or other going on in the garden of 10 Downing Street in May 2020.

It appears to show people gathering in larger numbers than allowed at that time and without socially distancing or a work situation with a baby in attendance.

The Boris Johnson wall of protection got into gear straight away, with Johnson loyalists trying to brush off accusations of wrongdoing.

Dominic Raab did the rounds of the media, telling each interviewer pretty much the same thing – that the photo showed people working, or just after working – becuase he couldn’t quite keep his story straight.

Comedian and actor Rosie Holt put part of that recording to very good use, with this excellent parody of a Tory. There’s some slightly NSFW language and a lot of brutal satire.

That’s the full package – great writing, acting and editing. It’s no wonder it got reactions like these.

Debby Cotton had this relatable observation.

In fact, it was so indistinguishable that some people thought Rosie was the genuine article – although we’ve yet to see a Tory MP wax so lyrical about the PM’s many offspring.

Perhaps this is true.
