This gun taken ‘off the streets’ by Beds police caused no end of mirth – 17 on-target responses
Over on Twitter the good people of Bedfordshire police shared news of their latest proactive operations to tackle serious and organised crime.
And very serious stuff and hugely important work it is too, obviously.
Yet there was something about the picture of the gun that they shared that prompted no end of mirth.
It generated lots and lots of responses and we’ve read them all – well, quite a few of them – so you don’t have to, and these 17 surely say it best.
If anyone has seen this dandy highwayman, do not approach. Call Bedfordshire police immediately. pic.twitter.com/w3CKoIwI5m

Technically, the sword wasn’t on the streets. An unidentified female in a shimmering samite dress had the sword and was hiding it in a nearby lake.
