Christopher Wren’s burn for the jobsworths who told him to put in extra columns echoes through the ages

Burn of the week – not this week, but a week back in the late 17th century – goes to Sir Christopher Wren after he was asked by councillors to insert a few extra columns into the Windsor Guildhall.

Health and safety and all that.

Except Wren – you may have heard of him – thought they were entirely unnecessary but had to do them anyway. So he did this.

A burn that echoes down the ages, including on Reddit which this week acclaimed him an ‘Architect Madlad’. We’re sure he’d be very proud.
