Boris Johnson’s latest bridge project might be going too far – 15 favourite takes
At a cost of around £53m of public money, Boris Johnson oversaw the Garden Bridge project in London, resulting in precisely zero bridges.
Fast forward to the summer of 2019, when that same Boris Johnson proposed yet another bridge – this one to join Scotland to Northern Ireland.
How we laughed.

Johnson’s Bridge to Ireland. Like the Garden Bridge, only massively more expensive and impractical. But it’s also like Bannon’s Wall around Mexico. It’s a freely floating symbol. To some it might look like ‘bridge building’ but it’s also a grandiose colonial gesture. https://t.co/UFYAWo9ubv

All this talk of a huge munitions dump between Scotland and Northern Ireland isn't going to put me off building a bridge.
If I'd listened to so-called 'experts' I wouldn't have had the pleasure of spending £53million on a non-existent Garden Bridge. #BorisBridge— Parody Boris Johnson (@BorisJohnson_MP) February 10, 2020

We might talk shit about the Brits but for them to build us a £15 billion bridge between a United Ireland and an Independent Scotland is a wonderful gesture https://t.co/kn05aqVbZh
