Donald Trump has been acquitted of the impeachment charges – the only 7 reactions you need
In a development that surprised nobody, the impeachment trial of Donald Trump came to a conclusion with all but one of the Republican senators voting to find the case against him unproven.
By 52 per cent to 48 per cent, the President has officially been declared not guilty of the charges of Abuse of Power and Obstruction of Congress.
The fact that the same republicans who acquitted him had prevented witnesses from appearing at the trial and the President is on record talking about trying to get the President of Ukraine to find dirt on an opponent’s family shouldn’t colour anyone’s judgement of the fairness of the verdict.
The Speaker, Nancy Pelosi, had this to say.
The President will boast that he has been acquitted. There can be no acquittal without a trial, and no trial without witnesses, documents and evidence.

A view no doubt shared by Senator Kamala Harris.
We've just witnessed a miscarriage of justice on the floor of the United States Senate.

Inevitably, Trump took to Twitter.

Naturally, Twitter had a lot to say about the verdict, and these responses put it best.

Congratulations to the 52 senators who voted not guilty. You just told a racist child-caging warmongering psychopath with poor impulse control that there are zero consequences for his actions.

#Trump’s learned nothing from the experience of being impeached. He will continue his criminal ways & then double down, knowing he’s gotten away with it once again. He will be like Robert Mugabwe, dictator of Zimbabwe, who lasted 40 YEARS, dying at 95, with his nation in ruins.

Writer and director, Adam Mckay, had a question about the repercussions of the “trial” and verdict.
Actual question: So can Dems now negotiate with Russia or China for dirt on Trump in exchange for future financial aid or trade concessions?
Is that now legal? Is it just “poor form?”— Adam McKay (@GhostPanther) February 6, 2020
