Someone had the perfect riposte for the man trying to hire them without pay

We’re not sure what job this person does, but we’re pretty sure it’ll be something with a creative or performative element, because they’re constantly asked to work for little or no money, in exchange for “exposure” or simply for the experience.

It’s definitely the same, Brian.

We particularly enjoyed these reactions.

Musicians have it rough. What was that meme I saw, went something like “A musician is a person who drives a $200 car with $2000 worth of equipment in the backseat to a gig that pays $20”.

Reminds me of when I was asked to MC an event. The morning of the event I was told they miscalculated their costings and couldn’t pay me and if I wanted to eat at the event I would need to buy a ticket at full cost.

The life of a performer…

“We can’t pay you, but we can feed you!”

Show up to the venue and eat a gourmet dinner made up of a half empty bag of funyuns.

I’ve been saying for people who offer nothing for musicians, to take the gig and not show up. When they complain, refund their money.
