Dublin has erected a plaque to the guy who slipped on the ice in a viral video

Back on January 8th 2010, a Dublin news crew caught the moment that a man slipped quite heavily on an icy pavement, and the clip of his painful-looking fall went viral.

Here’s what happened.

On the 10th anniversary of the very public walking fail, the incident has been honoured with a plaque marking the spot on Church Street where the drama took place.

Forever to be known as “The Guy Who Slipped on the Ice” – a name presumably given the thumbs up by Ronseal – his plaque has been sponsored by Coors Light, although there was never any suggestion that his fall was caused by an excess of drink.

We can think of one or two places we’d like to see similar plaques.
