This Question Time audience member lost the room when he revealed his pay bracket
Among many policies aimed at funding better facilities, Labour announced a rise in tax for those earning over £80,000 – the top five per cent of earners in the UK. One Question Time audience member took umbrage at the proposed policy and verbally attacked Labour’s Richard Burgon, denouncing the party as liars.
“I’d like to call out Labour as liars. I am one of the people he will tax more”

Initially, Burgon presumed the man had mistaken the threshold for the higher rate of tax, but he hadn’t, and when it was revealed that he earned over £80,000 but claimed not to be in the top five per cent, the audience could be heard muttering “Yes, you are.” His rant didn’t show him in a good light as far as Twitter was concerned, either.

Lol at this. A section of the audience were with him until they realised he was earning over £80k and the poor me routine was horseshit https://t.co/jfjPMYCoP8

The ranty man who somehow earns more than £80,000 a year yet doesn't feel wealthy in Bolton has a very odd idea about the pay of professions. You have to be a doctor for quite some time – and have a HUGE amount of responsibility- to be on £80k #bbcqt

Ironic that man who earns in top 5% doesn’t have the intelligence to know he’s in the top 5%. #bbcqt

This is absolutely bizzare, even by #bbcqt standards. A man is angrily arguing that he's not in the top 5% of earners in the UK despite earning £80,000 or more. This is after making a huge fuss about saying Labour are lying because he'll pay more, as he’s PAYE. What is going on? pic.twitter.com/hgcPk7AMBN

Man with income that puts him in the top 5% shits himself on national TV because his PAYE deductions might increase about £10 a month to fund public services. Meanwhile 4.4 million people are waiting for routine NHS operations and A&E waiting times are their worst ever https://t.co/xnI08PpYlZ

Dear bad bearded guy. Yes, £80K plus does put you in the top 5%. Suck it up. Plus you do realise this would be an extra 5% on income over £80K, so you get £85K, that is an extra £250 tax per year. Are you angry about that? https://t.co/sX8gvNhTEk

We’re all looking forward to the next episode.
On next week’s Question Time this guy actually questions time.
