Ivanka Trump quoted Thomas Jefferson to defend her dad and it was a glorious self-own

To be filed under ‘with family like these, who needs idiots?’ comes this latest chapter in the Twitter life of Donald Trump’s daughter, Ivanka Trump.

With impeachment proceedings against the so-called president being ramped up by the day, Trump’s daughter turned to history to put her father in a kinder light. In particular, this quote by the third president of the United States, Thomas Jefferson.

“…surrounded by enemies and spies catching and perverting every word that falls from my lips or flows from my pen, and inventing where facts fail them.” -Thomas Jefferson’s reflections on Washington, D.C. in a letter to his daughter Martha.

Also Jefferson's daughter Martha never really knew how to treat her slave-born half-siblings. Martha had a complicated relationship with her dad. Sort of like Shiv's with Logan's on Succession.

a.) Jefferson worked his whole life to ensure the president was not above the law
b.) Jefferson was the first top official to call for the impeachment of a president (Washington) for being too close a foreign nation (when he approved the Jay Treaty).
