A Labour MP kept accusing a male politician of ‘mansplaining’ and you’ll be facepalming into next week
This moment from Sky News went viral after Labour MP Catherine West repeatedly tried to shut down Green Party co-leader Jonathan Bartley for ‘mansplaining’.
It got lots of people cheering her on for calling out ‘privileged males’. Except, well, have a watch for yourself.

He wasn’t so much ‘mansplaining’ as ‘mantalking’ or, if you prefer, ‘mantryingtogetawordinedgeways’. Here’s LBC’s Shelagh Fogarty.
Oh my living God what a ridiculous way to communicate – her not him. https://t.co/8ohCboUugm

We’re sure there are plenty of instances of genuine mansplaining – like this one, for instance – but this really isn’t one of them.
Mansplaining is an ok word she’s just using it incorrectly and on the wrong man.

Good strategy- whenever a male opponent starts to speak cut them off for ‘mansplaining’.

She is doing absolutely nothing for gender equality. Mansplaining is a thing but it shouldn’t be used to put down a man unless he’s actually doing it.

If the entire general election campaign is like this, we’re in for a treat.
