A 7-year-old with cerebral palsy trying skateboarding for the first time will give you feelings
It’s a fundamental right of every kid to have fun, so when Lau Patron‘s seven-year-old son, João, told her he wanted to try skateboarding, she wanted to make it happen, despite João’s cerebral palsy being something of a barrier to the activity. She contacted ‘Skate Anima’, and this is what they set up.
The sheer joy on his face at the end is the antidote to the bleak stories in the news, and the whole thing shows that creativity can overcome almost any obstacle. The equipment used by João was originally developed for another child with cerebral palsy, Iris, whose family founded Espaco Viva Iris, which provides similar solutions for children with the same kind of difficulties.
The clip found its way onto Twitter, where it went viral.
This young man with Cerebral Palsy is skateboarding for the first time with a little ingenuity and a lot of his mother’s love.
