Liz Truss tried to reassure people about Britain’s future trade and made a schoolboy error in the first sentence
So-called trade secretary Liz Truss has moved to allay fears that she or anyone else in the government might not have a clue what’s going on at the moment.
Here she is sharing a speech she gave to international business leaders.

And unfortunately for her it didn’t take long for people to spot her schoolboy error.
Oh dear. UK trade secretary does not know WTO launched in 1995. Such ignorance does not bode well for post Brexit bilateral trade negotiations https://t.co/gjVlSoWe2w

This is so fucking embarrassing. The WTO was formed in 1995, Liz! Not even I can spin this one to make you look smart. 😬

For those of you not yet convinced that the UK Trade Secretary is embarrassingly unfit for office, it may be worth noting that the WTO came into being in 1995. That’s 24 years ago. Not 45 years ago. Trade Secretary. World Trade Organisation. Entry-level stuff. https://t.co/MnZG1GVfdv

1st January 1995, the Marrakesh Agreement.
Now you know why your audience was shifting uncomfortably.
As for "Britain is back" – daft slogans are no substitute for basic competence.
