When someone texts the wrong number it doesn’t typically go anywhere, beyond – and we’re paraphrasing here – ‘You’ve texted the wrong number, stop bothering me’.

But sometimes it’s the beginning of something bigger, and this is one such occasion, shared by Elamin Abdelmahmoud, an editor from Toronto, who was naturally taken aback to receive this.
