For a while now, an online movement has been gaining traction with the supposed intention of storming Area 51, the US Air Force facility in Nevada which is rumoured to house evidence of alien life. Almost half a million people have signed up to one Facebook group alone, with today – 20th September – set as the intended date for action.
Hopefully, it’s all just bluff and bluster, because an assault on a military facility doesn’t have a great prognosis, particularly in America. Whatever the outcome of the day’s activities, the Twitter community has been enjoying itself discussing it. Here are a few of our favourites.
