The Mr. Men – and a Little Miss – as Brexiters works far better than it should
You may have noticed a viral tweet and its consequences on Tuesday, when Michael Glasper tweeted his guesses at the referendum votes of the characters in Fawlty Towers.
Basil – Leave
Sybill – Remain
Polly – Remain
Manuel – Remain
Miss Tibbs – Leave
Miss Gatsby – Leave
Terry – Leave
Major Gowan – full-blown military dictatorship— Michael Glasper (@michaelglasper) September 16, 2019
There followed a veritable avalanche of similar takes, including this one:
Mr Happy – Remain
Mr Angry – Leave
Little Miss Sunshine – Leave
Mr Bump – Remain
Mr Tickle – Remain
Mr Nonsense – Leave
Mr Uppity – Leave
Mr Greedy – Leave— Otto English (@Otto_English) September 17, 2019
A very creative Twitter user named @LloydLoarsGhost decided to elaborate on Otto’s list, by working out which of the Brexiters match up with some of Roger Hargreaves’ iconic characters. This is how he imagined them.
People were pretty convinced that he’d nailed every one of them, leaving comments like these.
All of those are cartoons, except the Francois one, which is a real life photo.

Somebody wanted to invent new names for Dominic Raab …
Kind to Dominic Raab?
“Mr. Inadequate “ or
“Mr. Over-promoted” or
“Mr. Where is Dover”?— 🌑 Eleanor Ann Care (@EleLavernock) September 18, 2019
To be fair, they’re a lot more polite than the ones we’ve heard.
