Jamie Lee Curtis’s takedown of a Princess Bride ‘remake’ was good but Cary Elwes was even better
There were reports today that a remake of The Princess Bride may be in the offing.
Sony Pictures Entertainment CEO Tony Vinciquerra says that “very famous people whose names I won’t use” want to redo Norman Lear’s ‘The Princess Bride’ https://t.co/xGHdIxW2bf pic.twitter.com/uvHjWzpj9t

And it’s fair to say people weren’t pleased. They weren’t pleased at all.
Please.
Please no.I am not a hater who automatically rejects anything new, prequels, spinoffs, or whatever. But this movie, like Back to the Future, is perfect as is. They're untouchable. There will never be another grandpa, grandson, Inigo, Vizzini, or Fezzik. Do not do this. https://t.co/MGH1y4DGkO

And the almost best response came from Jamie Lee Curtis.
Oh really? Well, I married the six fingered man, obviously why we have stayed together for 35 years and there is only ONE The Princess Bride and it’s William Goldman and @robreiner’s. “Life is pain highness. Anyone who says differently is selling something!” https://t.co/hv33UIZKN3

‘Obviously why we have stayed together for 35 years …’
She’s married to Christopher Guest who played Count Rugen in the, well, you know all this already.
But the best went to one of its stars (let us never say ‘the original’s stars’), this man.
There’s a shortage of perfect movies in this world. It would be a pity to damage this one. https://t.co/5N8Q3P2e5G
