James Acaster talking about mental health on TalkSport went viral and it’s 3 minutes very well spent
Comedian James Acaster was on TalkSport talking about mental health and this 3-minute clip went viral because he spoke about it so eloquently and because so many people could relate to it.
Trigger warning for thoughts of serious self-harm.
“I couldn’t sleep, I was on the booze, I was having suicidal thoughts.”
“It doesn’t have to be that bad in order for you to start talking to someone.”
“We think that base level of stress and an anxiety is fine.”
Very honest from @JamesAcaster on his mental health battles. pic.twitter.com/OndunhM7tQ

And here are just some of the things people were saying about it.
This is like…..I don’t even have the words for how good this is and how amazing that he’s addressing that kind of laddish audience so calmly and gently corrects the presenter guy when he’s like “THAT bad?” 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻 https://t.co/7QKSNwM3TO

"It doesn't have to be that bad in order for you to start talking to someone."
One of many important messages in this wonderfully candid interview. Thank you @JamesAcaster. https://t.co/A1SDrQDuRz

James navigates this interview brilliantly. These feelings and experiences shouldn't be tightly vignetted in the way the hosts attempted to. No compassion present. Men should be able to talk in a way that is honest and vulnerable without having to say IT WAS THAT BAD. https://t.co/ez18hUYHF3

James is brilliant here https://t.co/2sYMZwqgmm

I'm glad James tried to enlighten these fellas and even when they seemed bemused/challenged him he carried on being serious about his experience. What he said is really important https://t.co/kznBBgCR4R

And there was one moment halfway through that made people smile, a contribution from Alan Brazil’s co-host, Dean Saunders, that Acaster dealt with perfectly.
Fucking dying at "tears of a clown" from Saunders. https://t.co/ZQb2FaEiQj

“That is a saying.” 😂
