During a signing ceremony to extend a compensation fund for 911 first responders, Donald Trump made another of his many attempts to make the events of that horrific day about himself, saying this:
“And I was down there also, but I’m not considering myself a first responder. But I was down there. I spent a lot of time down there with you.”
Trump claims without evidence to an audience that includes 9/11 first responders: "I was down there [at Ground Zero] also, but I'm not considering myself a first responder, but I was down there. I spent a lot of time down there with you."

His completely unsupported claim drew a mixture of revulsion and scorn, and led to a hashtag, #LostTrumpHistory trending on Twitter, with people imagining what else he might have achieved. These were some of the best we saw:
