This CCTV video of a diner choking is terrifying and a lesson for us all
The manager of a restaurant in Greece shared this CCTV footage of a man choking as a reminder of what to do if you ever find yourself in this situation.
It’s terrifying stuff and a lesson for us all. Fortunately in this case it also had a happy ending.
This video is doing the rounds – FOR EXCELLENT REASONS. Choking can be quiet and not often obvious, especially to bystanders. The Heimlich manoeuvre is simple and can save someone’s life. pic.twitter.com/b6IeYVFCBb

This happened to my 9 year old in the school dining hall. Thankfully a teacher spotted her, did the HM and moved the blockage.
Unfortunately the first thing my daughter did was gasp for air and swallow the blockage.
They made sure it was out on the second go.
I love that teacher!— local(0)zero (@john_stone_john) July 22, 2019
Why did it take everyone so long to do ANYTHING? pic.twitter.com/lgcf8vlPMF

People are often embarrassed (initially) both person choking and bystanders.

Excellent video. I would also say to his partner there. Be vocal. Shout for help!! Better to embarrass yourself than watch someone die in silence.

Equally important: MANY people choke to death in restaurant bathrooms, because it's regarded as social awkward to be choking, so they head to the bathroom alone then die.
If you're choking: DON'T GO ALONE. If someone is choking: DON'T LEAVE THEM— Liam O 🦆 (@liamosaur) July 22, 2019
