The Latitude festival dyed a load of sheep pink and everyone thought it was a really baaaad idea
The good people of the Lattitude Festival might have thought they were onto a winner when they dyed a load of sheep pink and shared their efforts on Twitter.
The sheep have arrived! 💖🐑 pic.twitter.com/wY1oIuX3nB

Except not everyone – make that, not anyone – shared their enthusiasm, including the RSPCA.
This is disgusting! Animals are not here for us to use how we please. They are not toys or objects! They are living beings!

In what reality is this in anyway acceptable? 'Best Family Festival', not in the slightest. Smh.

Im not sure how I feel about this. I dont think I like it very much. @LatitudeFest is it worth maybe explaining to all of us complainers what the process of getting the sheep ‘pinked’ is and why it’s necessary? I totally ❤️ the festival but this is just a bit uncool.

Animals aren’t props. Bad move @LatitudeFest

@RSPCA_official having dyed sheep at a loud festival that will scare already nervous animals, this is unacceptable, please intervene

This is very sad to see 😢 We're a charity with no more powers than any member of public, and unfortunately this is not illegal. We want all animals treated with kindness and respect and would discourage people from painting animals for novelty purposes.

To conclude …
Well this backfired a bit, didn't it? I've gotta say I'm thrilled to see so many people voicing concerns, the days of gratuitous animal exploitation are slowly but surely coming to an end.
