An airline tweeted you’re more likely to die sat in the middle of its planes and it’s a sky-high self-own

Nervous flyers look away now after KLM Airlines thought it would be a good idea to share with its customers how the chances of you dying in a plane crash change depending on where in the plane you are sat.

No, it really did, in this tweet sent by KLM India.

‘Seats at the back of the plane are the safest!’

As self-owns go, it’s of the sky-high variety.

You may not be surprised to know that it’s since been deleted, but not before people had screenshot it for posterity.

Someone joked the tweet was in response to the furore that this week greeted the airline’s policy of asking women who breastfeed babies on their flights to cover up.

Here’s what KLM said about it later.

And just in case you’re wondering, the Time magazine article it quotes dates back to 2015 and you can read it here.
