Boris Johnson flagged his rainbow credentials during Pride and Kay Burley had the perfect response
Just in case you ever doubted Boris Johnson wasn’t entirely tolerant and all-embracing, the prime minister in waiting bigged up his support for LGBT+ during Pride in London.
Salute all those celebrating #PrideInLondon today. I have fond memories of my pink Stetson march as Mayor! Britain leads the world in LGBT+ equality and I'll continue to champion the cause if I am lucky enough to become our country's Prime Minister 🏳️🌈🇬🇧 pic.twitter.com/1f9vvXKPJ0

Except some people have longer memories than Johnson, or rather choose to remember rather than choose to forget.
Like Kay Burley, for instance.
Oh Boris!
Didn’t you refer to gay men as ‘tank-topped bum boys’?#ToryLeadershipContest https://t.co/cR87iLSzPt

And she wasn’t the only one.
you called gay men ‘tank-top wearing bum boys’ and compared same-sex marriage to a person marrying a dog, didn’t attend london pride 2011-2015, allowed gay marriage ban in bermuda, and have a homophobe running your leadership campaign – so fuck your salute and fuck you too https://t.co/95zxxbk8Em

Lovely photo of you surrounded by tank topped bum boys there Boris.

You called us “tank top wearing bumboys”. We don’t forget so easily.

And just in case you were wondering where that particular phrase was from (he has also attacked “Labour’s appalling agenda, encouraging the teaching of homosexuality in schools”) …
And in a 1998 Daily Telegraph column, he said the resignation of Peter Mandelson from the then Labour government would cause “tank-topped bumboys” to “blub”.
