Morrissey’s latest interview went down about as well as the last one -12 savage takedowns

It seems that every time Morrissey gives an interview it’s to praise someone on the far right, like Tommy Robinson, or to make a racist comment, which explains the Tommy Robinson love.

In his most meta interview yet, the former Smiths singer answered questions posed by his own nephew, Sam Esty Rayner, which he then published on his own website – and the pair of them were definitely having a normal one.

Here are some “highlights”:

He thinks the Guardian has a vendetta against him.

SER: Why don’t The Guardian just have you killed and put an end to it all?

M: I think that’s their eventual intention. Be patient!
…If I suffered physical harm as a direct result of the Guardian’s tyranny, you can imagine cheers and champagne exploding through their offices.

He thinks the man who unveiled the racist “Breaking Point” poster and is now at the centre of yet another expenses scandal would make a good prime minister.

SER: Are you a supporter …of Nigel Farage?

M: No … but it’s obvious that he would make a good Prime Minister.

He’s a supporter of the far-right anti-Islamic For Britain and their leader.

SER: You support ‘For Britain’?

M: Absolutely, yes.

SER: Well, why For Britain?

M: I think Anne Marie Waters is the only British party leader who can unite the left and right. I don’t know any other party leader who even WANTS to do this. The UK is a dangerously hateful place now, and I think we need someone to put a stop to the lunacy and to speak for everyone.

SER: The obvious press assessment is that she is racist, but I haven’t heard her say anything racist.

M: Neither have I. …The word is meaningless now. Everyone ultimately prefers their own race.

Here’s how people have reacted to his remarks.
