Poundland had the ultimate comeback to a campaigner who compared it to a crap railway station

Taking the name of one of the high street’s discount shops in vain has become quite an effective way of slagging people off – Nigel Farage is a Poundland Enoch Powell, that sort of thing.

Except Poundland – we’re pretty sure there aren’t any Poundshops left anymore – is mad as hell and it is isn’t taking it anymore.

So when a transport campaigner called David Redgewell described Bristol Temple Meads railway station as the “Poundland of national rail stations” it thought it would do something about it.

So it went on Twitter and did this.

Which is both a clever defence of its own reputation while managing to double down on criticism of the generally pisspoor state of the national railways.

Nicely done, Poundland.

And then there was another unexpected twist.

Except there was only one winner here.
