A homophobic bride fired a make-up artist for being gay and the internet didn’t hold back
Read this exchange between a bride-to-be and a woman who she contacted about doing her make-up for the big day and you might be checking your calendars to make sure it’s actually 2019.
The text messages went viral after they were shared on Twitter by the make-up artist, called Kristian Cardenas, who introduced it like this.
openly sharing who i am with the world is my choice; a choice i will never apologize for. i love what i do and who i am. today i was taken back a little bit. homophobia is a real issue still in 2019. please just be kind to everyone you meet. pic.twitter.com/mTGbcKl55T

Just for context, according to the good people of Someecards, Kristian is from Lubbock, Texas, which is a notoriously conservative area. They’re not kidding.
And here were just some of the responses it prompted from Twitter.
Holy shit. 1. You are so much nicer/more professional to that shit human than I would’ve been 2. You should charge more- your work is bomb and $115 is way too low for both hair and makeup.

You should ask if they have had sex before getting married, and just nicely mention that if they have they probably shouldn’t take a step in that church either.

WTF is wrong with that person?!?!?!? I can’t believe that just happened. But to be honest I’m not surprise! Keep the hard work and no matter what stay visible! Happy pride Guuuurl! 🏳️🌈✌🏼

So lemme get this straight… she damned you to hell but then said she doesn’t want you in her church… People like this are the reason Christianity is looked down upon. I’m so sorry this person spoke to you this way. I promise we aren’t all like this! You’re loved. 💛

I don’t even believe this person was getting married, just pretended to open the line of communication to shame you.

This is silly. Whatever church she goes to is probably a church of God. And anyone who loves God knows to love ALL His people no matter the way they live their life. The Bible makes that very loud and clear.
You’re so strong KC💗💞— Victoria (@VictorriaOtero) June 12, 2019
And here’s what Kristian had to say later.
to everyone messaging me on all my social media, i promise i’m seeing y’alls messages. i love all the support y’all are giving me😭 don’t be afraid to message me and tell me your story, words of encouragement, or anything you’d like. i’d love to hear from you♥️

hearing everyone’s stories good and bad makes me so teary eyed. knowing that some of you don’t have a voice, or are afraid to be yourself in fear of things like this happening to you; makes my heart break. i want so badly to make a difference, big or small😫♥️
