Turns out only British people have a washing machine in their kitchen and the rest of the world is appalled
It started when a Twitter user called Melis went on Twitter to point out that German people put their washing machines in their bathroom, not their kitchen.
Not only that, she had the pictures to prove it.
In Germany it‘s the MOST NORMAL thing that washing machines are placed in bathrooms and not in the kitchen where it definitely doesn‘t belong???? IM- pic.twitter.com/s5evTPwgap

And her tweet went madly viral, propelled by a whole bunch of Brits who couldn’t imagine putting it anywhere else (well, apart from a utility room if you’re lucky) and pretty much the rest of the world who simply could not see why anyone would ever have a watching machine in their kitchen.
Here’s just a flavour of the exchanges that followed.
