The PM tweeted about straws and everybody made the same joke
On Wednesday, there was reasonable doubt as to whether Theresa May would still be Prime Minister by bedtime, amidst resignations and condemnations regarding her handling of Brexit, which is why people were surprised by this tweet:
How many plastic straws are currently used each year in the UK?
— UK Prime Minister (@10DowningStreet) May 22, 2019
Although not sent by Theresa May, it was posted on her behalf and seemed not to have read the mood of the room, so to speak. Given the topic, there was one inevitable response, which was made a lot.
Not entirely sure but @theresa_may is clutching onto every single one of them. https://t.co/MiTyHxNCEV

Et cetera, et cetera. There were a few other takes as well:

Buzzfeed editor, Matthew Champion, considered her legacy.
if these are Theresa May's last hours as prime minister, it's a hell of a tweet to go out on https://t.co/GlHmAyU9MU

Not exactly one for the history books.
In case you were wondering, this was the answer.
The answer is 4.7 billion! We're stopping this by banning the sale of plastic straws, stirrers and cotton buds in England from April 2020. Read more here: https://t.co/yJkm9X8Hlz #PassOnPlastic pic.twitter.com/hcH9lhhfG6
