Alexa! What’s an example of wasted effort?

We’re very much in favour of things that make life easier – labour-saving devices, technological solutions, not answering the phone, etc. What we can’t understand is why anybody would make more work for themselves for no reason whatsoever, like @richie_rich77‘s mum has done with her tea and coffee jars.
