Katie Hopkins sided with the anti-vaxxers and the takedowns were to die for – our 9 favourites
Failed Apprentice candidate and sacked hatemonger, Katie Hopkins, isn’t known for the sharpness of her intellect, but she recently made a statement that makes even her previous ramblings look intelligent. As the possibility of refusing school places to unvaccinated children was floated as one of many options, she tried to spin it as Deep State versus families, rather than science versus dangerous ignorance.
Whilst her tweet probably whipped up the anti-vaxxers into an incoherent frenzy – probably indistinguishable from their usual state – it garnered an enormous amount of criticism, which we’ve whittled down to this:

I see Katie Hopkins is branching out from Being A Big Racist into the field of getting children killed unnecessarily from long eradicated disease pic.twitter.com/f8AJSqU3jn

As a doctor I will say this:
Vaccines save lives.
"Herd" immunity protects all of us. Including children.
Measles can be fatal, and killed millions before vaccines.
Katie does not care about your children.
Reckless, selfish and irresponsible. https://t.co/WIp9oHQCbN

I guess when you've already sided with nazis, siding with measles isn't much of a stretch. https://t.co/eE1hIBlbZ9

Katie Hopkins uses medicinal & clinical intervention to prevent & control her epilepsy. Vaccines prevent & control illnesses & diseases. Do what Katie does, not what she says- use medicine to protect yourself & your child. It's about keeping your child safe with vaccination. https://t.co/4KTV8mpNMc

My children are animals along with most of humankind. Obviously you're a vegetable so vaccines might not be as effective for you.

Bonus: Dr Charlotte Lydia Riley provided us with this fitting comparison.
Katie Hopkins going for vaccines is like Britain First posting all those animal protection memes, right? Which makes it a really scary signal of how normalised anti-vaccine discourse has become.
