A nurse was denied a London marathon record because she wore trousers – these nurses’ reactions say it all

Spare a thought for Jessica Anderson, an NHS nurse who wanted to break the Guinness World record for running the London Marathon dressed as a nurse.

Running it quick enough wasn’t the problem – she completed it in just 3hrs 8 mins 22 secs – but not wearing a dress was, it turned out.

Jessica wore trousers, you see – like a lot (or most) nurses you’ve ever seen – but was told her attempt wouldn’t count because scrubs with trousers was ‘too much like a doctor’s uniform’.

Current Guinness World Record rules state that a nurse’s uniform consists of a “blue or white dress, pinafore apron, and a traditional nurse’s cap”.

Here she is in action.

And here are some of the brilliant reactions the Guinness World Records’ rules – now being reviewed, by all accounts – prompted from nurses all over the country.
