Someone asked why feminists are conflicted about Margaret Thatcher – 15 brutal responses
BBC Radio 4’s Woman’s Hour tweeted a question about how feminists feel about the late Baroness Thatcher, given that she was the UK’s first woman prime minister and clearly found a way through the political glass ceiling.
Margaret Thatcher was the UK’s first female PM. Why did so many feminists feel conflicted about her? #UK1stfemalePM 👜 Tell us what you think 👉 https://t.co/PRZmOeeWKK pic.twitter.com/Abm7jgqedr

But there was no evidence of any conflict in the responses – there was a sweeping accord.
1.
As a feminist, let me unequivocally say I don't feel conflicted in the slightest about Thatcher: she was absolutely fucking terrible. https://t.co/9tZ1YNJtPf

Not really a debate here….
She destroyed whole communities.
Most feminists found her policies abhorrent.
She was no friend to women.
Only a foolish feminist would champion a genuinely terrible woman. https://t.co/8yJeXl9CNa— Ruth Ibegbuna (@MsIbegbuna) May 1, 2019

I don’t understand the idea that to be a feminist you should stand up for or thank Margret Thatcher. As a man no one is expecting me to stand up for Stalin or Genghis Khan.
