This journalist’s passive-aggressive response to hate mail wins the internet
American journalists really stick their heads above the parapet if they level even the slightest criticism against Donald Trump, who has fed his supporters a diet of propaganda against the free press. When one Washington Post correspondent, Philip Bump, did just that, he received an angry and critical email, which he dealt with in the best way.
Today someone sent me hate email in all caps so I told him that I had a disorder where I couldn't read capital letters and he retyped the whole thing in lowercase.

He shared both emails.
That’s what you call dedication to getting your troll on. Twitter reacted:
come on philip u know trump just had an aide retype it

Email him back and tell him your mind doesn’t process ampersands

That's sort of . . . weirdly sweet and inclusive. I mean he'll go the extra mile to make sure his crude disdainful insults are accessible, dang it!

I weirdly respect that level of dedication.

It’s like they put a flaming bag of poo on your doorstep, but there was a little glitter in the bag, too.

Presidential candidate, Eric Swalwell, shared a tale of another troll.
I got a death threat last week where the DM was unintelligible. Then the guy corrected the typos with an asterisk. Likely completing the crime. 🙄

So, they’re hateful and stupid, but at least they’re helpful – every cloud.
