“Celebrities as things” has peaked with Diane Abbott as M&S canned cocktails
After Diane Abbott’s train-ride tipple went viral, there were two major effects:
1. She won a lot more hearts and minds than you’d think possible for an M&S Mojito
2. M&S sold out of said mojitos, plus other canned cocktails
They should give her a cut of the profits.
Another upshot was that freelance writer, Louis Staples, was inspired to create a thread showing cans of M&S cocktails looking surprisingly like the MP for Hackney, and it’s a joy to behold.
