James O’Brien described the effect of Brexit – and it’s really ironic
As of last night, the new official date for Brexit is the 31st of October – yes, Halloween, it’s almost as though Brexit were something horrifying. It’s beginning to feel like Frank Sinatra’s retirements from show business, but with less style and thankfully fewer karaoke tributes. LBC’s James O’Brien, one of the few people who has predicted almost every development of Brexit so far, took a little time out from speaking to callers to point out a massive irony about where the process has led so far.
“Today we are handing control of our country to foreign politicians, and I don’t like that, except of course it’s been done as a direct consequence of people who claimed that the foreign politicians already had control”
Unsurprisingly, when LBC tweeted the link, his comments didn’t go down well with those still in favour of leaving:
Your are completely barking MAD! #Leavemeansleave It was a prophecy – EU HAS taken control and WE need to take it back https://t.co/J6xv1xFo72

When is it going to sink in that the people charged with delivering have no intention of delivering brexit!!! That's why we're in the mess we're in!!

Not if we just left with no deal…that would have been full control back to us, that's what we voted for. It's a Remainer PM, who never intended for us to leave, and an obstructionist Parliament who have messed this whole thing up. #BrexitBetrayal

Remainers, on the other hand, were glad to hear the irony being pointed out.
That's the problem when people believe liars. We lose what we already have. Con men in suits – they are the worst! Sad so many still conned or won't admit they have. https://t.co/up7XFHoKM7

“Surely, this is the ultimate proof that the line about taking back control was utter hokum.”
