“Graffiti artist versus council cleaner” was the match of the year
There’s a vast array of graffiti out in the world, ranging from Banksy’s prized works to that thing “Macca” has sprayed all over every spare bit of wall within a three-mile radius that you wouldn’t want your granny to see. Often, council cleaners are sent out to remove or cover up the offending item, sometimes even if it’s a Banksy.
A Twitter user named Dan spotted – and captured – a bit of a virtual football match between a graffiti artist and the cleaner sent to undo their work in London.

It started with a single word
Followed by a lot of other stuff …
Enter council cleaner …
Here we go again
Your move, graffiti artist. This went back and forth, until …
Council person missed a spot.
1-0 to Graffiti Artist.
It wasn’t over …
Not taking the graffiti artist’s advice, we see …
We can’t imagine how annoying this must have been at the council office.
BOOM! A last-minute equaliser from the council …
Or was it?
That looks like a win in added time for Graffiti Artist.
Dan’s thread proved to be pretty popular, with the top tweet picking up 15,000 retweets and these comments:
I love how this ended! This building went from very meh, to bold and beautiful, haha, and I feel like the graffiti artist deserves some credit for that, haha! Love this!

This is the best thing I’ve ever seen and probably will ever see on Twitter

Although a few people suggested it wasn’t art, we beg to differ – that’s performance art.
