Joe Lycett’s invitation to the Lord Mayor of Birmingham is an emotional rollercoaster
We love Joe Lycett, in fact everybody loves Joe Lycett, don’t they? The comedian can currently be seen distracting the panicked contestants on the Great British Sewing Bee, but he’s also to be found distracting everybody on Twitter with his creative humour. One of his latest series of posts relates an unusual request to his local Lord Mayor.
Just emailed the Lord Mayor of Birmingham to ask if she’ll unveil my kitchen extension lol pic.twitter.com/MngbYUL4H5

That would have been quite the coup, but there was a disappointing update to follow.

Just when we were considering suggesting he ask Olly Murs, the story took a turn for the hopeful.
The Lord Mayor’s office has clarified that if this is a public ticketed event that would change things. I’m looking into this.

We’re debating whether to buy a new outfit – just in case. This is how the people of Twitter reacted to his bold gambit.
Alright Joe, we get it. You know Paul Chuckle. Enough humble bragging.

How could one possibly refuse such flexible and sincere invitation.

There were several suggestions for alternative dignitaries, including a few volunteers.
Back in the mid 90s Wolf the Gladiator opened a Microplay computer games shop in Shirley. He might be up for it.

Unless he’s invited Wagner, don’t go.

I will happily unveil it. I can be spotted in an episode of news round just behind ore oduba https://t.co/o4Ne6dzKIK

If you’re prepared to take a step down to a Councillor in Solihull then I’ll do it. 👍 Genuine offer. Your kitchen extension sounds amazing.

Perhaps the Mayor didn’t want to come because she’d spotted how Joe reacts to the office.

If it happens, we should have a day trip – or maybe we’ll just watch the live stream.
