Rumours of a cabinet coup caused mass speculation – 19 scathing reactions
Over the weekend, all the major newspapers and a lot of the political commentators reported rumours that Theresa May was about to be ousted by her own cabinet, which sounds only slightly less painful than being hoist with your own petard. The names of two main potential replacements were bandied about: David Lidington and Michael Gove, otherwise known as “who?” and “FFS, no!”. There were some understandably strong reactions online.

Waking up to the news of a #CabinetCoup. The list of Theresa May's potential replacements is awful. It's like having diarrhoea and the only options to wipe your arse are sandpaper, a ghost pepper, chicken fillets, your own hand, a child's face or some more diarrhoea.

It would seem that I've worried a few people with my prediction that Michael Gove will be the next Prime Minister.
My apologies. Of course, the next Prime Minister will be Sarah Vine. #CabinetCoup

The great thing about the #CabinetCoup is that there’s such a rich pool of talent to choose from! So many intellectual heavyweights! So many who you just know will put principle over personal ambition!

Chris Grayling has been put in charge of organising the #CabinetCoup. He's just sent a letter to Maggie May (c/o Rod Stewart) asking her to resign immediately. He forgot to put a stamp on it. #RevokeArticle50 #PeoplesVoteMarch #Marr
