Kay Burley’s not happy with men explaining mansplaining to her but they might have a point
Here’s Sky News presenter Kay Burley discussing all things Europe – and the Euro – with SNP MP Ian Blackford. But the bit about this exchange that really got people talking was the ‘mansplaining’ bit.
Have a watch for yourself.
Kay Burley tries to drop the old "you'll need to accept the €" chestnut on Ian Blackford, who's having none of it. pic.twitter.com/8Dr9BTFC50

Kay Burley wasn’t happy with the number of men who were explaining mansplaining to her (although it should be said that it wasn’t only men).
Love how many men are mansplaining to me how to use the word mansplaining this evening.

And yet, well, this is what people made of it online.
1.
Well done to @IanBlackfordMP for remaining studiously polite. Deeply discourteous behaviour by Kay Burley. Moreover her use of ‘mansplaining’ wholly inappropriate in this context. Ian is better briefed. His sex is irrelevant. https://t.co/Kzd7WgKWgv

"Mansplaining"! Fuck sake, because a man *might* just know more about a particular subject than you, does not make it mansplaining. https://t.co/S4M87WDRRu

‘Mansplaining’ is an *extremely* valuable neologism we can use for calling out sexist, patronising men. You devalue it whenever you use it in a situation where it demonstrably isn’t merited.

Kay… the only one trying to make “mansplaining” happen was you. Ian was simply explaining the FACTS. Spouting empty sound bites and catch phrases that have already been dispelled as pure fantasy is just cringe and embarrassing. Looks like you need knew researchers/fact checkers

Really? I’m a woman and I tell you that you are talking shite! Your lies don’t beat facts, I know deceit is en vogue right now but you are really making yourself look extremely stupid with this tweet.
