This amazing footage of a flight battling strong winds had us reaching for the sick bag just watching
This footage of a plane battling strong winds is so extraordinary people assumed it must be fake. But it’s not because not only does Kay Burley say so, she had someone on Sky News to talk about it.
Take a look at this.
This lunchtimes @British_Airways flight from London Heathrow has diverted to Malaga due to strong winds at Gibraltar Airport 😬 #Gibraltar #Airport #GibraltarAirport #AbortedLanding #StrongWinds #BA492 pic.twitter.com/Oi8DxwNwQ9

Think we’ll get the train, thanks very much.

One of my pilot friends has just said: don’t worry, we’re very well briefed and prepared for this, but it was probably a little challenging for the passengers

BA: The flight diverted as a precaution and we're arranging ground transport for affected customers to allow them to continue their journey to Gibraltar and apologise for the disruption to their journey. At no point was there a risk to safety.

The flight has landed safely and passengers have left the aircraft normally.
Due to strong winds in the Gibraltar area, our pilots decided to land in Malaga as a precaution.
The safety of our customers and crew is always our number one priority@British_Airways

The wind effects around The Rock can be ‘interesting’. There are very specific briefing requirements for flights in/out of Gibraltar. Although this looks quite alarming, you would be amazed at what the aircraft is capable of. We should get you in the simulator so you can do it!😄

Apparently it’s not entirely out of the ordinary, but we don’t know whether that makes it better or worse.
Gibraltar is a captain only landing because it is a bit more challenging than the average! I've explained why this video is not so out of the ordinary and why you should not be scared here! https://t.co/IbOteQVPaz
