Theresa May’s past words are coming back to bite her

The relentlessly creative protest group Led by Donkeys has been posting Twitter-style billboards all over the country, containing words that prominent politicians probably wish they’d never said in the first place. Previous “victims” include Jacob Rees-Mogg and Boris Johnson, amongst others, but now – the boss herself has come under scrutiny and it’s Theresa May’s words plastered over a wall.

“I believe it is clearly in our national interest to remain a member of the European Union.”

That has to be a bit on the embarrassing side for someone so stubbornly insisting that Brexit is the only way forward. This is the first time the campaign has spread beyond those UK borders the Leave campaign was so worried about until they realised they included the one between Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland.

Twitter user Frederic Moreau spotted it in situ.

That looks pretty hard to miss. Certainly, the people of Twitter didn’t miss it.

Someone named Mike Czerski had an interesting suggestion.

They’re going to need a bigger crowdfund.
