Meghan Trainor’s press release went viral because it’s so cringingly awful, it’s brilliant

The point of a press release is to attract attention to a product or event, so you can definitely say “mission accomplished” when it comes to the one issued for singer Meghan Trainor‘s new album. It starts off badly, gets worse in the middle, then deserves to be set on fire at the end, so at least it’s consistent. The full thing was published in Paper magazine, but here’s an extract for you.

“Meghan’s seducing your ears this V-Day, and you know she knows a thing or two about romance. Unless your phone’s been broken for a hot minute, you know that Meghan just got married to the ginger from Spy Kids, and trust when we say, girl is feeling the love.”

“We know you want to hear songs about all the hot newlywed sex Meghan and Daryl Sa-BAE-ra are having (did you see what we did there?). Which is why you’ll love the banging’ single “All The Ways.” Billboard was wet for “All The Ways,” calling it “another fun, danceable track to fall in love with.” And would Billboard lie to you, girl?”

Erm …nope. People could hardly believe their eyes.

Meghan Trainor didn’t comment, but the writer of the press release, Caroline Goldfarb, did – and she pointed out something people might have missed amidst all the sex talk.
