This Daily Mail correction about its ‘moving magnetic north’ story is a solid gold schoolboy error

You might have read that fascinating story – well, we thought so – about the magnetic North Pole and how it is moving quicker and quicker towards Siberia.

All to do with the earth’s molten iron-nickel core, apparently.

Anyway, the Daily Mail had a solid gold correction to its story after making what, in retrospect, is a brilliant schoolboy error which someone really should have spotted earlier.

34mph! Imagine the havoc that would play with compasses …

No wonder they were so keen to point out it was an Associated Press agency, which supplied the copy, and not their own.

Probably should have read it first, though.
