The moment this dad realises his son is on Countdown is truly joyous
Channel 4’s game of words and numbers, Countdown, has been on our screens for over 36 years, so it’s hardly surprising that it’s something of a national institution with a faithful regular audience. One Twitter user, Brendan Whitehurst, was lucky enough to be a contestant on the show, but managed to keep that fact from his dad, allowing him to capture this beautiful reaction video.
The moment my dad found out I was on @C4Countdown 🤣🤣🤣 Happy Monday. Hope it makes you chuckle @RachelRileyRR @susie_dent @Nick_Hewer @Nicki_Chapman pic.twitter.com/8ZURtu5KIh

The clip has had almost a quarter of a million views in a few days, with people sharing their delight at Brendan’s dad’s obvious joy, not to mention his decision to call his son a “little shit”.

Only a dad could say "You little shit" with such joy and love. ❤️

The way he smiles and laughs and keeps looking at you and then when he gets comfy at the end and reclines into the sofa omg my heart this is too pure for punctuation and correct grammar

Here he is, back in October, with the show’s stars, Susie Dent, Nick Hewer and Rachel Riley.

In case you were wondering how he got on, somebody asked if he won.
I did. I became an octochamp and am hopefully in the finals.

With a dad like that, we feel like he was already a winner.
