This must be the most crushing Guinness world record fail of all time
In an effort to achieve greatness, some people train their bodies in an Olympic sport, some study to reach the heights of academia, while others find something weird to do, then do it more than the last person, earning themselves a place in the Guinness Book of Records.
Here are some of the oddest.
The longest nails – how does she go to the toilet?
The biggest pillow fight
The most people in one car – “ouch” for whoever was over the gear stick
But it must be hugely disappointing to attempt a record and fail, which is what happened to comedy writer, Sir Michael, who shared his disappointment with Twitter.

In case that’s not clear, this is what it says:
“Thank you for your letter of January 7th 2019. We are always eager to hear of new world record attempts. Unfortunately, however, your claim to have memorized pi to two decimal places falls some distance short of the current record and we will not be sending a member of our Records Management Team to evaluate it.
Furthermore, pi is not equal to 3.11 so this error would automatically invalidate your record attempt regardless.”
His Twitter followers were sympathetic and helpful.
Sir M, you need to play to your strengths. Maybe a world record attempt at being the person on the World Wide Web (information superhighway) who is most popular with ladies would work out better for you?

You should have saved this post for pi day, March 11th

You've still got that world record from the local youths for climbing up a tree really fast though, so who is the real winner?

Just heartbreaking. Really. I hope you have a better 3.11 days ahead. pic.twitter.com/nIPG0WdAOK

Thank you. This is in the top 3.11 kindest gestures of support I've received on this dark day.

One mathematician was on Sir Michael’s side.
it's simple maths! 3.14 rounded down
to two decimal places is 3.11. It can't be 3.10 because 0 isn't anything.— Damning Libel (@DamningLibel) January 18, 2019
